Christopher Williams is a Berlin-based composer, contrabassist, researcher, and organizer. B.A. at the University of California San Diego with Charles Curtis, Chaya Czernowin, Bertram Turetzky; PhD candidate at the University of Leiden with Richard Barrett and Marcel Cobussen. Compositions include conventionally notated chamber music, multimedia pieces, and collaborations with dancers and other improvisers; collaborations as a performer with Derek Bailey, Benjamin Carson, LaMonte Young’s Theatre of Eternal Music, Robin Hayward, Charlie Morrow, Ben Patterson, and James Saunders. Articles on experimental music in Open Space Magazine, The Improvisor, and Critical Studies in Improvisation; lectures and workshops at universities and conferences in Europe, North America, and India. Curator of numerous concerts in Barcelona (2003-2009) with Associació Musical l’Embut, and currently of Certain Sundays, a monthly salon in Berlin.
